Living our school values:
We are diverse and inclusive
A note from the Principal
28 April 2023
A note from the Principal
Dear
Parents
We've had an eventful week at school, with some key events to mention. Our
Y3-Y6 students put on a fantastic dance and music assembly that was enjoyed by
all. It was wonderful to see our students showcase their talents and their hard
work paid off in a stunning performance. Well done to all!
Additionally,
over the last two weeks we have held parent workshops on RSE, which were
well-attended and informative. It's crucial that we work together to support
our students as they navigate this important area of their lives. Thank you to
all who attended and contributed to these valuable discussions.
On Monday, we will be enjoying our staff CPL day with some excellent topics for
discussion. Guest speaker Tom Sherrington will be here in person to support us
with our journey in the walkthrus and instructional coaching. He is also
offering a parent workshop later in the week and we do hope you can attend.
As
always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact us. We value your input and are here to support our school community in
any way we can.
See you all on Tuesday!
Learning
Year 1 - This term in IT we will be learning to code simple animations using Scratch Jr.
This is a free App which you can access and practice simple command sequencing using at home.
Y1 - Scratch Jr - Term 3 - Bangkok Patana School (fireflycloud.asia)
With ScratchJr, young children (ages 5-7) can program their own interactive stories and games. |
Children will improve their ability to read a sequence of commands and predict what will happen when it is run.
They will also learn to put commands in order to achieve simple goals.
i.e. The character will appear here, move to this position and then say "...".
All year 1 children will be sharing their code and animations in Seesaw in the coming weeks so talking to parents at home about what they have made and maybe making new projects at home would be a great way to consolidate their understanding.
Amazing Thailand
Our theme of learning this term is all about Thailand. You can find out more on our Curriculum pages.
RSE
If you were not able to attend the Relationships and Sex Education presentation this week, we have recorded it for you. You can use the captions and translation tools on YouTube if you would like to. The videos within the presentation will not play. If you wish to watch them, they are below the presentation.
You may also find these suggestions for talking with your child helpful.
1. Baby growing video - for Y3 students only
2. Pantasaurus - Y1, Y2 and Y3
3. Talking to kids about sexual abuse - video for parents.
We will start teaching this in Week 4 of this term and will provide you with an update each week about the content for the following week.

We provided tasty and nutritious snacks each day for the students in class. As some of our children have allergies, please ensure any food sent to school does not contain any sort of nut.
Birthday celebrations
We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.
If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts or cupcakes. Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School.
We have no birthdays in Y1 next week!
