The Green Ball competition at Harrow

The Junior Tigers squad travelled this morning to Harrow to take part in a mini tennis green ball event with Harrow, STA and BKK Prep.
It was a great opportunity to see the team in action and see how they are developing and using key tactical skills and patterns of play.
The green ball is 25% slower than a regular tennis ball and a key part of the ITF policy for 10U players worldwide. The matches are played on a full size tennis court and the slightly slower balls allow for longer rallies and as the ball doesn’t bounce as high it is excellent to learn technique and not let extreme grips develop which can lead to injury at this young age. Bangkok Patana School staged Thailand’s first green ball events 8 years ago and it is good to see now many academies, schools and tournaments have followed suit since and it is now an ITF rule that no U10 official events should be played with a regular yellow ball.
