Choose Your Own Adventure Lesson 3 and 4 (SCRATCH)

In these pages we are making our CYOA stories in Slides.

If you are making your stories in Twine or Slides, then you need to on the other pages.

Using the flow chart plan you have made, open the Google Slide template from Google Classroom, here.

There are # parts to this and you will need to make reference to either your Slides plan either in Lucid Charts (click to open and login) or your slide above - so have it open in a tab and bookmark it in chrome.

Spend 10 minutes getting to grips with this story. Look how the pages all link together to tell the story.

There are several things missing from the presentation from 6J. What do think they are?

1. How do I start with a pre-made template?

You will need to remix a Scratch Project that is on Scratch.mit.edu and or remix this one based on Hansel and Gretel.

If you search on Scratch.mit.edu for ‘CYOA’ then you will find 100s to choose from.

2. How do I make my own?

Open the link or make your own from scratch. Look at how it is made.

The options are all repeated actions:

Ask a question with a set answer for the text to added in. The Text for the reader is always underlined.

Else, broadcast. See Luke Dyer’s video below.

3. How to make your pages link to one another

You link with broadcasting.

How do I broadcast?

3.1. See Mr. Dyers link above. He links to two buttons that he makes in the paint editor. Then the two problems are edited into your options in your story.

4. Make your story according to your plan.

Each option is matched to your paragraphs in your Lucid Chart. Each link is set out according to which option is in your story - say, North or South/ Cave or Path etc.

5. Add Images And A Colour Theme to Text Plus a Suitable Font.

Once you have added all the links you need, the story needs images to match your setting and actions. These should be high resolution. You can get them here at UnSplash.com

6. Adding Suitable Sound to Enhance Your Story

Get Sound from FindSounds.com or BBC Archive.

Add to your scratch project as in image below

6.1. Download the sounds.

6.2. Add sounds or upload sounds in the ‘Sounds’ tab.

6.3. trim the sounds if they’re too long
