iMovie - Lesson 4: iMovie Clip Sequencing

This lesson is all about Learning how iMovie works and how we edit clips.

Each image in this page is a mini guide on how we import, edit on the timeline and create a story.

You will be working in a pair, three or as a table.

We will learn:

1. How to import clips.

2. How to split clips. Delete and re-order.

3. Detach audio.

4. Add titles and Export to an Album in the Camera Roll.

5. If you are doing really well as a team, there is an extension to the right.

The film we are going to be using and editing  is the Kung Fu Mantis Vs the Jumping Spider from the BBC.

Aim:

Your aim is to cut out 1 minute of footage and still keep the meaning of the story.

Watch the clip. It’s 4 minutes long. You need to make this 3 minutes minimum.

Importing and arranging. Two of the clips are in the wrong order.

You will need the clips from this page >> click here<<

How to import them is here… >>>

This silent clip shows you how to download the files to your ‘Files App’ via the download button in Safari. Then add the clips to your timeline.

1. Check that you are in the ‘Files’ app as well so you can see the downloads.

This 40 second video is silent and shows you haw to see ‘Recents’ in the ‘Files App’ as well as how to add the clips from ‘Files’ in the Media Panel in iMovie.

2. Within iMovie, you can now add the clips from ‘Files’ section in the Media Panel.

Tap on ‘Browse’ and find ‘Recents’. If it’s not there, pull down to ‘refresh’ the folder.

3. Once you add all the clips, you need to arrange them in the correct order.

4. Teamwork: What can you take away and still leave in so that the film makes sense?

5. This is what you should end up with. There are some mistakes left in here. Can you spot them?
