PSHE discussion

Mr Glenn's method on how to create passwords with 3 or 4 small words:

It's super easy to remember, you don't need symbols or capital letters and is just as hard to crack (unless someone knows it, of course!)

Less popular words are better.

A combination of 4 small words. For year 5 children, 3 words is fine because it will be over 8 characters long.

If you want to be fancy, add an underscore (this symbol _ ) in the middle of a word.

Four less common smaller words with no symbols can be strong and is far easier to remember for humans.

See this comic from XKCD on why passwords with symbols, numbers and capital letters are complicated and are very hard for humans to remember.

Mirriam-Webster definition of Entropy: 3: CHAOS, DISORGANIZATION, RANDOMNESS

What can you take-away from the video?

  • Less popular words are better
  • A combination of 4 small words. For year 5 3 words is fine because it will be over 8 characters long.
  • If you want to be fancy, add an underscore (this symbol _ ) in the middle of a word.
