Nursery Continuing Student Learning Tuesday 26th October

Learning Focus

Transport

Today we are going to think and talk about where different types of transport travel. They may travel; in the sky, on land or in the water.

Can you match the pictures to where they should be?

Can you sort out your toys depending on where they travel?

We can have great fun mark making with cars and trucks, here are some ideas;

There are lots of opportunities here to encourage talk about lines, shapes and other mathematical language. Don’t forget to let your child wash the paint off their toys when they are finished.

Promoting Independence

Wearing Masks at School

When we return to school your child will need to wear a mask to enter the nursery. We keep our masks on all of the time except when we are drinking, eating, swimming or sleeping. Please help your child to understand that this is a requirement and no mask means no school.

Active Learning

Sensory Fairy Soup

This is an outdoor activity which your children will really enjoy. I will challenge them to make Sensory Fairy Soup.

Click for Guidance

You will need:

  • Scissors
  • Bowl
  • Spoons and ladles
  • Containers to pour water
  • Shells and stones if you have them
  • Big bowl of water

Encourage your child to go into the garden or the Moo Ban where you live with a bowl. Encourage them to find small leaves and fallen flowers on the ground that they can gather and collect to bring back to their play space. Try to find things that are not still growing but have fallen. If your child can find herbs and flowers that have a scent this is even better for a sensory experience.

Once they have collected some interesting plants, leaves and flowers they can scoop and pour water to add to their Fairy Soup. Encourage them to stir their soup and prepare it as they think the fairies would like. They can add some shells or stones if they would like to and maybe use their scissors to cut up some of their things to add to the soup.

They can then leave it for a while so the fairies can enjoy it!

We Love to See Your Learning!

What could you share on Seesaw today?

We would love to see how your child shows their understanding of the world around them. This could be photographs of their creations or videos of them talking about different ways to travel? How do you know…? Is a great prompt for an explanation.

You are not limited to the ideas on the blog. Perhaps your child has displayed a skill for the first time, such as putting on their socks, or riding a bike? We love sharing these kind of experiences and achievements too!
