These are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!
This Week Foundation Stage Children are going to become...
Last week, we were exploring storytelling through imitating and innovating stories. This week, you can choose to continue to do this and enjoy practising the storytelling language in these existing stories. However, maybe you’d like to go onto the next step in the process: inventing your own story! Here, you can use the language and structure that you’ve practised and experiment with making up your own story. Your story will need characters, setting, an event and an ending.

Miss Sarah Models Inventing a Full Story
Use the picture cards to help invent your story, or use your own ideas. Today, you can focus on the character and setting, or write the whole story if you wish. Remember to keep stopping to retell the story from the beginning as practising oral retelling deepens our understanding of language.
Parents please help your child to express their ideas by drawing or writing what they say. Children can have a go at drawing and writing after they have had the opportunity to tell you their own story. This will keep their focus on oral storytelling.
