These are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!

Foundation Stage Collaborative Story Part 3 - 'Event'
Have you invented your own story? Remember, you can go through this process at whatever pace works for you. If you have finished your invention, today we invite you to become Little Performers to share your story! Today, can you plan your performance? You can do some research and planning at this stage: what do shows normally have or need? Tickets, posters, props and scenery? What else might they need? Use today to plan and make whatever you need for your show. If you decide to use costumes and props, they can be very simple - open-ended resources often lead to more creativity!

Parents please help your child to express their ideas by drawing or writing what they say. Children can have a go at drawing and writing after they have had the opportunity to tell you their own story. This will keep their focus on oral storytelling.

Mark Making with Ms Gemma!
Make your own dice using any box you have at home. Cover each side with a pattern of choice. Ms Gemma will show you her patterns in the video. Throw the dice up and create the pattern that lands facing up. To create the pattern, you will need to make your own sensory mark making tray. Use a tray and cover it with salt or rice. Use your finger to explore and make the patterns on the tray. Mark making is excellent for improving children’s fine motor skills and helps to develop their hand-eye coordination.

Make your own sock puppet! Think up a name for your puppet friend! Your friend only understands sound talk, so when you ask him/her questions he/she will answer you with their special sound talk.
You might ask your friend questions like:
Who would you like to play with? m-o-m
What colour is your bike? Bl-ue
What do you wear on your head? H-a-t
Parents, when you’re helping, it will be clearer if the puppet answers with single-syllable words. You may want to model a few times to make the game work for your child. If you need a little help remembering the correct phonic sounds for each phoneme, follow this link.

Sensory Play with Ms Chree!
This game helps your child to focus in on their sense of smell to extend their vocabulary as they try to describe the items that they are smelling.

Use yogurt pots or little cups, put a piece of kitchen towel or cotton wool in each cup or a little bit of that food item in the cup. Find 3-5 different items that have different smells. Cover your child’s eyes or ask them to keep their eyes closed while they use their sense of smell to guess what is in the pot without looking at it. You could use lime, orange, shampoo, talcum powder, coffee, onion, garlic, fish sauce, soap, vanilla essence for this game.
