A note from the Principal

A note from the Principal

This week, we have enjoyed two special events. On Wednesday, we joined 32 members of our choir at the British Club for an evening of carols. It was the most magical night under the stars and made us reflect on how fortunate we are to be part of such a diverse community and in such a special place, Thailand! On Thursday, Y5 did themselves and teachers extremely proud with their bring, buy and bake sale. A huge amount of creativity and hard work went into this – well done to all.

Next week, is the end of our busy term. We are all looking forward to a week of festivities, including the Primary staff party, the Christmas concert and the Christmas assembly. Our paperless reports will be published on Friday and this document provides a snapshot of your child’s progress and attainment thus far. We are currently undertaking a review of our assessment and reporting practices, as we look to make them more relevant and meaningful.

This will be my last note of the year and so I would like to take this heartfelt opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Thank you parents for all your ongoing support, open dialogue and commitment.

Proud of you Patana! See you in 2023!

Sarah McCormack

Well being

Giving Gifts to class friends

Giving gifts to friends and family is a lovely thing.

However, we do not encourage gifts from a family to the whole class.

Edible gifts can cause problems for some families, and we do not allow sweets/candy in school.

Many of our students are giving gifts to families and children in need - and this we completely support.

Learning

World Languages options for Year 7

Following the Languages presentation talks for primary parents in November, this letter outlines the World Languages curriculum in Secondary School.

Music Blog

Visit the recently update Primary Music Blog for lots of information connected to your child’s learning including musician of the month, resources connected to areas of the curriculum, ECA materials and information about upcoming events.

PE - bringing in a change of clothes

We are noticing a number of students coming into school without a school uniform to change into after PE lessons. Please ensure your child brings in their full uniform and school shoes for after their lesson so that they are clean, cool and comfortable for the rest of the day.

Many thanks for your support with this.

Primary PE Personal Challenge Week

Students will be participating in their Star Challenge and Fitness Challenges next week (Friday 9th and Monday 12th December) during their PE lessons. They have received information regarding this in assembly or from teachers. A copy of the powerpoint is here . Please read for full information!

A polite reminder that if they choose to do the scoot option, scooters must be labelled clearly with Name and Class. Only fold up scooters will be allowed on School transport, and helmets are compulsory. Scooters / skates can be stored in the Sportshall Foyer in the morning and can remain there until the end of the day for collection.

Monday 12th December:

6B, 6S, 6D and 6F: FITNESS CHALLENGE (Normal PE kit).

6T, 6J, 6P and 6L : STAR CHALLENGE! (Swim kit / Scooters / roller blades optional)

Home Learning

Home learning is set every Friday on the class blogs - students are expected to complete their home learning by  Wednesday of the following week.

Global Citizenship

Events around the world

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

Birthday Treats

We are a NUT FREE school.  Children may bring in a special treat to share with the class.

Please contact the class teacher to arrange a suitable time.

  • Brownies, cupcakes and individual cake slices are easier for your child to give out.
  • Please reduce plastic packaging as much as possible.
  • We do not allow party bags or other gifts to be given out at school, either for birthdays, or other celebrations.

Temporary Guardianship Form - let us know if both parents are going away and leaving a student with a friend, nanny or a maid.
