General Information:

Mathematics Opportunity

The following 2 new ECAs are being offered this Block for Y4-6 students. One is a physical exploration of patterns and one a more relaxed journey through magnitudes within geometric constructions. The ECA’s are suitable for students of all students.

Each ECA will be run twice per week. One in the 2.30-3.30 pm slot and one in the 3.30 pm slot. There are still some spaces left on each ECA.

“Improve Your Maths Skills – Patterns”

This ECA is for students in Y4-Y6 wishing to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of maths.

This ECA is aimed at developing the student’s intuitive understanding of mathematical patterns using visual, spatial and fun movements, games, races and challenges. The patterns at the heart of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are directly experienced through physical interaction with space. This visual, spatial and concrete experience greatly assists with understanding and memorizing.

Wearing gym clothes is recommended.

“Improve Your Maths Skills – Maths without numbers”

This ECA is for students in Y4-Y6 wishing to deepen their understanding of mathematical operations while experiencing the beauty of maths.

Numbers are not the only magnitude that can be added, subtracted, multiplied, divided or square rooted. In this ECA students will use visual, geometric magnitudes to explore maths without numbers to understand what these operations are and the laws controlling how they work. This understanding can then be directly applied to numbers.

Students will also get to learn many of the classic straight edge and compass constructions which are relaxing and satisfying to perform.

If any students want to join these ECAs their parent would need to contact Chris Meller at chme@patana.ac.th directly.

Lost Property

Parents and children are encouraged to search lost property before purchasing replacement items.

Birthdays:

Nut free Primary School

For some children, any exposure to nuts is potentially very dangerous and can be life threatening.

We do not allow any nuts to be brought into Primary. This includes snacks on school transport, birthday treats and food items brought in for any other special days.

Happy birthday to the Year 6 students celebrating their birthday this week.
