Child accessing adult content - IMPORTANT!
It is now very easy for children to view adult content online, including sexual and graphically violent images. Some parents and carers may not be aware of just how easy it is for a child to access pornography, even if this is just being shown a clip on a friend’s phone.
It is no longer uncommon for children to stumble upon sexually explicit images. For example, if your child is interested in manga and anime, they may be directed towards hen-tai sites. Hentai is a genre of manga that often includes highly sexualised characters and explicit images and stories.
We have filters at school which prevent the viewing of such images and strongly encourage parents to check the parental control filters on any personal devices used at home.
It’s important to note that there are many excellent anime sites that are suitable for children, and which take into account a child’s age, interests and level of maturity.

Learning
PSHE - Relationships and Sex Education Programme (RSE)
This week, we have shared the question box with Year 6 students (see last week's newsletter for more information).
We have also explored changes and different views of image and beauty. We discussed with the students, how images are not always representative of the actual person e.g by using filters to hide pimples and blemishes we are given a false perspective of what others look like.
Next week we will teach students about puberty in girls, including discussing body changes and periods.
Please reach out to your child's class teacher if you have any questions regarding our RSE curriculum.
Here are some resources to support your conversations about puberty and periods with your child:

Home Learning and Class Blogs
Home learning is set every Friday on the class blogs - students are expected to complete their home learning by Wednesday of the following week.

Global Citizenship
Events around the world
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

General Information
ECAs - important information
Please ensure that you child knows the end of the day arrangements and where they are being picked up. A firm arrangement is best as it avoids confusion and any upsets.
If you have to change arrangements at short notice, please contact your child's class teacher or the Primary Office.

Birthdays
Happy Birthday to: Jin (6H) and Miles (6F)
We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.
- We are unable to have parents in Year Group buildings at this time, so ask that Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning
Temporary Guardianship Form - let us know if both parents are going away and leaving a student with a friend, nanny or a maid.
