Well-being

Transition to Secondary

This week our Year 6 Students have enjoyed spending more time in some of our Secondary School Faculties. This is as part of our transition plan, but it is also a wonderful opportunity for all students (including those leaving us) to experience learning in different environments. Students have all experienced breaktimes (the smoothie bar was a highlight!) Over the next two weeks all classes will get to enjoy a secondary school canteen lunch.  Next week we will continue our visits over in the Secondary School. They will meet key staff members and make connections with our Secondary Students.

There will also be an opportunity next week for students to ask Y7 students questions about life in Year 7.

Please remember to complete the KS3 music ensemble choice form before Monday 30th!

Year 6 Sponsorship Event

In order to raise valuable funds for our Year 6 charity, A21, Year 6 will be participating in a fundraising event that links to our Term 2 topic of Migration and our Term 3 topic of Healthy Choices. This event will be a sponsorship activity and we would like to ask for your support from home. During the week of 30th May, students will try to walk as far as they can collaboratively with the aim of ‘migrating’ to one of 3 destinations: Ayutthaya, Hua Hin or Chiang Mai.

Each day, we will complete our step count and total the distance travelled by each class to see how far we can get by the end of the week. This will also help us to practice some of what we are learning in regards to being healthy as part of our Term 3 learning.

What we ask of you is for sponsorship of our Year 6 students with either a given amount or a value per lap that we will collect in by 10th June.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of our students and the charitable contributions made towards this worthy cause.

Learning

PSHE - Relationships and Sex Education Programme (RSE)

This week we have been in our own classrooms (all genders together) learning about human reproduction. The sessions have included learning the names of reproductive organs, as well as learning about how different ways a baby can be concieved, it's growth in the womb and different ways a baby might be born.

We discussed  how all families are different and that this is ok.

Next week we will be learning about attraction.

Please reach out to your child's class teacher if you have any questions regarding our RSE curriculum.

PE Learning

Please see PE  activities for  the rest of this term for each class below:

Home Learning and Class Blogs

Home learning is set every Friday on the class blogs - students are expected to complete their home learning by  Wednesday of the following week.

Here is the link directly to the Year 6 blogs.

Global Citizenship

Home languages

We will be launching the Home Language Labs next academic year in Korean, French, Japanese and Mandarin. This presentation will give us the opportunity to provide you with information regarding the importance of developing Home Language(s) and to show you what the Language Labs will look like for your child(ren).

We will have a 5-minute Q&A at the end of the presentation, should you have any questions.

Here is the link to register for attendance: https://forms.gle/9nakqcwuMt7pAGLR7

Please reply by Wednesday 8th June.

Fundraising - Busking Day

Musician of the Month - Let's celebrate music

The featured musicians, Bangkok Paradise Molam International Band, are quite an eclectic mix of Thai traditional and Western style instruments based on Molam music of Isaan.

Events around the world

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.
