A note from the Principal
Dear Parents,
This week, we commenced the first of our student assemblies hosted by the Primary Leadership Team. These assemblies occur, roughly, every two weeks and parents are always warmly welcome (do check ISAMS for the schedule). I was lucky enough to host the Year 3 and 4 assembly on Wednesday and the focus was on our values kindness, compassion and respect. We used our Learning Habitats video to further think about the ways in which school is like a rockpool and how using kind words and actions helps us to live in harmony. A big well done to all the students starting their ECAs this week and exploring their potential in so many different ways! Sarah McCormack

Well-Being
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Preventing the spread of colds and flu
Please help us to prevent outbreaks of cold or flu as we head into the rainy season.
Children with cold or flu (influenza) symptoms should be kept at home until they are completely recovered.
Even when the main symptoms have gone, your child may still need time to return to full strength.
Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer in the contagious phase.
If your child is still coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with other children.
A child who has a fever should be kept at home until ‘fever free’ for a minimum of 24 hours.
Influenza is a serious and contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system.
The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air, allowing infection to spread quickly.
When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma.
If Influenza is confirmed, please send a copy of the medical certificate to Nurse@patana.ac.th

Dear Primary Parents,
We are ready and happy to welcome parent volunteers back into the Primary School after the half term holiday.
As part of our Student Safeguarding, we require any parent who may be in direct and regular contact with students to complete a three-step process before offering their time.
- Attend a short presentation about in-school Safeguarding
- Sign the Parent Code of Conduct (updated annually)
- Sign a Self-Disclosure form confirming that you have never been subject to any allegation or investigation with reference to children or young people.
PTG committee members and group representatives are very welcome to attend annually as part of their role.
The presentation will be held on Wednesday 4th October at 8 a.m. in CON 420.

Year 5 PE
Getting changed after PE:
If your child has cross country during break time, they can stay in their PE kit and get changed into their uniform afterwards.
If your child has an ECA after school, they CANNOT stay in their PE kit after their PE lesson. They must get changed into their uniform.
Students should come to school in their PE on Monday and Friday. If they have swimming for the first lesson, they can wear their swim kit under their uniform. If they have swimming later in the day, we ask that they DO NOT wear their swim kit to school.
Please ensure that your child brings their uniform with them to get changed into after their PE lessons.
Some parents have asked about class colours. Please see below.
Class Blogs and home learning
Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.
Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.
Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.
Global Citizenship
Events In The World
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.
