Well Being

Celebrating with friends is an important aspect of well-being. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are unable to have our annual Christmas Assembly. Instead, have planned a Christmas Spirit Day where students and staff will have a chance to celebrate together in year groups.

In Year 5, we will also have a year group party. Again, due to restrictions, we will not be asking students to bring in any food or snacks for this.

Global Citizenship

Bring, Buy and Bake Sale

Please start to collect any unwanted items to sell at our annual

Items should be in good condition but no longer needed or used at home.

For example:

  • Books
  • Toys
  • Puzzles
  • Games

Please also begin to think about the cakes, cookies or other baked items your child may choose to bring in to school and sell.

A reminder that baked items must be brought to school in a container with your child’s name and class code on the morning of the sale.

Strictly no nuts.

All money raised will go towards the Cambodia Clean Water Project as we aim to purchase more than 5 water wells for the rural communities in Siem Reap.

Being a global citizen - I am aware of what is happening in the world

Learning about the importance of our oceans.

Part of being a global citizen is being aware of what is happening in the world and how our actions have an impact on both people and the environment.

Kirsty Magson from New Heaven Conservation Program visited us this week to deliver a presentation about her program and conservation of coral reefs in and around Koh Tao. She covered these five points:

  • The importance of coral reefs
  • Sea turtle rescue
  • Marine Pollution
  • Responsible Snorkelling
  • What can the students do?

After the Christmas break, students will write a persuasive speech about protecting our oceans reflecting on their actions and how adapting these can play an important role in ensuring that we protect these vital habitats.

Here are a few interesting resources that students can use to learn about the importance of protecting our oceans.

Events in the World

If you would like your child to be aware of world news and events but find it too overwhelming, have a look at Newsround for a more age appropriate version of current events.

You can also access First News and The Week along with a wide selection of other magazines in our Primary Library. Being aware of current events really will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class.
