Learning

PSHE

In PSHE, we discussed respecting ourselves and others and how we can achieve this. We have learnt about respecting people, places and things. Using scenarios helped us to discuss what respectful behaviours look and sounds like.

Next week, we will be looking at how rules and routines support respect within our classrooms and play spaces.

Are you up for the challenge of writing a whole novel in a month?

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is a fun, empowering and engaging way to write creatively. The main challenge is in November but you can also write novels at any time of the year.

Sign up for an account here using my class code below: https://ywp.nanowrimo.org/

You need your parents' permission so ask them to sit with you while you register.

Get started with your first piece of writing now if you want! I will be able to read your writing and offer feedback and support, and you can also share with other students in our classes.

There are also some great resources to help you craft your writing style that you can use.

In November, we will join the challenge and hopefully you will be successful in publishing a whole novel within a month!

Class Blogs and home learning

Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.

Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.

Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.

Swim Gala - Monday 10th October - Add the date to your diary

Year 5 will have a swim gala on the 10th October from 10:05 to 12:10pm in the 25m pool. Parents are welcome to come along to support the event.

Please ensure that you child brings in their swim suit, swim hat, googles, a towel and sun cream.

We look forward to celebrating this event with you.

Global Citizenship

Events In The World

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show.  Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

Birthdays

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.

  • Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
  • Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
  • Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
  • Parents can join in the celebrations.
