A note from the Principal
As we embark on Term 2B, I hope each of you had a rejuvenating first week back with us.
It is with sadness that I share news of Khun Puy's passing. Khun Puy served as our housekeeper in Year 4 and was a valued member of the Patana staff for 8 years. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family during this difficult time.
If you would like to offer condolences, please share them with K. Pom in the Primary Office, and we will ensure they reach Khun Puy's family.

Well-Being
Year 5 Sponsored Basketball Charity Event
Teaching children about the importance of charity is one of the most valuable lessons they can learn. The power of giving not only helps them discover causes they care about but also how giving can help others. Understanding the meaning of charity is also an excellent way for children to learn about the value of money and how even the smallest amount can make a big difference.
On the 20th March, Year 5 students will take part in a Sponsored Basketball event, where they will aim to shoot as many basketball hoops as they can, The money raised will go to the Home of Grace charity which supports young mothers giving them shelter and educational opportunities.
Please speak with your child about the importance of taking part in charity. We will learn more about charity and giving back to our local communities during our PSHE lessons.
On Monday, your child will bring a sponsorship form home. For some students, getting sponsors is totally new to them. Please support our charity by sponsoring your child and helping them to get some other sponsors.
Save the date – RSE (relationship and sex) presentations for Primary Parents
During Term 2B, we introduce age appropriate RSE units as part of our Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum in Years 1 to 6.
If you would like to hear more about our taught programme, please save the date for our parent presentations.
All presentations start at 8:00.
We will share the presentation slides via the year group newsletter for those of you who cannot attend.
Tuesday 26th March (Primary Hall) for Year 4 and Year 5 parents and carers.
In the meantime, here are some documents that you can use to help you to discuss personal safety with your child. Click on the documents to open them fully.
Songkran T-Shirt Competition Winner Year 5
Thank you to all of the Year 5 students who entered the competition. The winning entry from Year 5 is Wonny from 5W. This is certainly going to make a wonderful Songkran shirt.
World Book Day – Thursday 7th March
There are some exciting book themed activities planned for this special day. Please note that it will not be a dress up day.
We invite families to donate a brand-new children’s book (Thai Language please) which will passed to one of our charities:

- Y3 - Thomas House (age 5-11)
- Y4 - Mercy Centre (age 5-11)
If you wish to donate a book, your child should hand it to their class teacher during the month of March.

PSHE lessons
Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about different types of bulling.
Learning about different types of bullying, helps students to identify it when it happens and helps them to become upstanders rather than bystanders.
Here is an information sheet that includes some types of bullying that your child learnt about.
PE lessons
All students MUST bring their school uniform to change into after the lesson.
Due to health and safety reasons, it is highly recommended that students wear football boots for their Tee Ball lesson.
Any questions please do not hesitate to contact the PE Team - jaju@patana.ac.th.
Class Blogs and home learning
Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs. You will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.
Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.
Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.
Global Citizenship
Events In The World
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus. Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings.
- Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
- Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
- Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
- Parents can join in the celebrations.
