Well-being

Have a restful half-term break.  We look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday 17th February.

Learning and Global Citizenship

Over the past two weeks the Y4s have been immersed in either their residential visit or our Arts Week. One theme that came through during both weeks is how much they care about their planet and the animals, places and people on it.

The students were fascinated by the mangroves we visited- these were planted on a huge expanse of land that had been shrimp farms. The vision to 'regrow' the area with an environmental project like the mangroves really inspired some students. Many were just thrilled to be 'so close to nature' and delighted to see the different species of animal life thriving in the mangroves.  They were saddened when they saw pollution caught up in the roots of trees and wanted to know what could be done about it.  Many wanted to venture into the mud to retrieve it!

Whilst staying by the beach, we were able to take the students out in the evening and do some star gazing.  Very few had heard of light pollution and were very curious about this.

In school, with each landmark researched, the students were able to make connections between different landmarks and different cultures. It has been a discussion rich few weeks and we have loved seeing the passion that the students have to share their views and learn more.
