A note from the Principal

A Note from the Principal

31 January 2025

There are some weeks in the Primary school that simply dazzle and this has been one of them! In our Creative Arts building, the students have been showcasing their talents in Performance Week and on Friday, we all thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the Lunar New Year and welcoming in the Year of The Snake.

The area of learning that I have been most impressed by is Science. Over recent years, we have been transforming how children see the world through atoms. In partnership with the Surfing Scientist Ruben Meerman, our newly devised Science curriculum builds from Year 1, where students become "atomic architects," to Year 6, where they uncover the dance of protons, neutrons and electrons. Along the way, they explore the big concepts of photosynthesis, nutrition, and the universe at an atomic level—ensuring they don’t just learn science but truly live it.

Amazing job Patana Primary!

Birthdays

Parents should not bring in class gifts, balloons, bubbles, whistles, games, drinks etc. Your child's class teacher will politely ask you to take these home with you. We enjoy celebrating birthdays by sharing a birthday treat such as donuts or cakes.

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus.

Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings. If you bring these in, unfortunately, we will have to send them home

Birthday Treats

  • Children may bring in a special treat to share with the class.
  • Please contact the class teacher to arrange a suitable time. In Year 4, you can do this on Monday or Wednesday as we have Spelling lessons on other days.
  • Brownies, cupcakes, small donuts, and cake slices are easier for your child to give out.
  • We do not give out drinks (e.g., bubble tea, sodas)
  • Please reduce plastic packaging.
  • We do not allow party bags or other gifts to be given out at school, either for birthdays, or other celebrations.

The following students celebrated their birthdays this week:

Tay

Dayton

Rishika

Oliver
