Literacy - Can I use effective language?

Learning Task- Create a bank of vocabulary.

Today we are going to choose exciting adjectives and adverbs to describe the shop and the owner.

You can create a vocabulary wall by using Flip grid, audio presentation, Google Slides or pencil and paper. Be creative.

Instructions:

Identify the nouns in the video.
Think of adjectives to describe these nouns.
Are there any verbs which fit your nouns? (Show the way they move or don't move)
Are there any adverbs that could also be used with these verbs?

Possible nouns:

The shop
The shoemaker
The shoes
The window
The door
The inside of the shop
The storage boxes

Break time!

Helping at home- save plastic for an eco brick project

Prepare yourself for some 'eco-bricking'.

Start saving the clean, dry bits of plastic that you would normally throw away. Keep a bag in the kitchen and start saving up any plastic that can go into an eco brick, instead of going to landfill. You could collect:

Mama noodle packets (as long as you have shaken out the dry noodles
crisp packets
plastic shopping bags which have split
plastic from around six packs of drinks

Next Tuesday, we will be looking at how to make an eco brick. We are giving you a week to get enough plastic saved to make a really good start.

For this, you will also need to save or find a 2L water bottle.

Time for you to focus on you! Have a snack and do something that makes you smile.

Lesson 4: 11:00-11:40 a.m.

PSHE- Can I express gratitude?

This idea comes from one of our Year 4 parents. You will need:

A jar or small box
Some small pieces of paper upon which you can write a few sentences
pens/paints to decorate the box or jar.

Each day this week (and for longer if you enjoy it!) write a message to your parents and put it in the jar.

They will also need to write you a message each day.

The messages should be about you showing gratitude (being thankful) or appreciation for each other.

Possible sentence starters:

Mum, I really liked it when...
Dad, you made me smile when...

As a family, you can come up with a name for your jar and agree the time that you will open your messages each day.
