Fostering Independence

Please can you ensure you say goodbye to your child outside the Y3 building in the morning. This then enables the children to come into class and settle into their daily routines.

Kindness

At the beginning of the year the children were introduced to the book 'Have you Filled a Bucket Today?' The book encourages spreading kindness by smiling, being kind, being polite, giving compliments and treating others with kindness and respect. We are using this idea in all Y3 classes to fill each others buckets. If you would like to hear the story please watch the video below.

Parents Workshops

Tuesday 1st October: 3-Way Conference Overview (8am in the Primary Hall)This workshop is for families who are new to Patana and have children in Years 2 to 6.

Please note Year 1 Parent-Teacher meetings and 3-Way Conferences (Years 2-6 ) will take place on Wednesday 16^th and Thursday 17^th October from 12.50pm. More information on sign up and logistics will be communicated with parents in the comings weeks.

The Wonderful World of Roald Dahl

Next week we continue our learning based around the books of Roald Dahl. We will be focusing on the book The Twits. In Maths we are learning about statistics. If you would like to find out more about the Learning in Y3 please refer to the curriculum pages using the link below.

PE

A polite reminder that students require sports shoes / trainers for PE lessons, which are different to their school shoes. This applies even if their School shoes are black trainers.

Interclass Football

Year 3 Interclass Football will take place on Tuesday October 1^st , during normal PE lesson times:

3D, 3F, 3A and 3H starts 10.05am – 11.05am

3M, 3K, 3J and 3S starts 11.10am – 12.10pm

Please make sure your son/daughter has their football kit on this day.

Classes will be split into 3 teams: Boys team, Girls team and Mixed team.

Girls and Boys teams will play on the Primary Back Field, and Mixed teams will play on the Primary Side Field. Please ensure that your child has their football boots, shin pads, long socks, PE shorts, class colour shirt and a hat for their event. Any practice in lace tying would also be wonderful between now and then.

We look forward to seeing students and supporters at the first Year 3 tournament of the year!

Primary PE Team

Parent Home Language Helpers:

We are looking for parents who would like to be Home Language Helpers (PHLH). The PHLH will help to create opportunities for learners to experience their Home Language within their learning. This means that you could volunteer to use your Home Language to read a book with learners who speak the same language, or to spend time in the learning environment exploring and discovering in your native tongue. If you are interested in joining, please add your name to our Parent Home Language Helper database here or contact Ondine at onul@patana.ac.th if you have any questions.

General Information

Nut free Primary School

For some children, any exposure to nuts is potentially very dangerous and can be life threatening. We do not allow any nuts to be brought into Primary. This includes snacks on school transport, birthday treats and food items brought in for any other special days. Some treats, such as macarons, contain hidden nuts. Please check the ingredients before sending into school. If snacks or birthday treats are found to contain nuts, we will contact you and either dispose of the food safely or ask you to collect and take back home.

PTG Information

Come along to the PTG BIG NIGHT OUT!

Date: Friday 4th of October from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Location: The House on Sathorn, W Hotel.

Tickets go on sale 4th of September at the Tiger shop.

International Day Information

International Day - Country Spotlight

International Day will take place on Friday 1^st November.

In the weeks leading up to International Day, our PTG has organised a wide range of Country Spotlights to help students learn more about a specific country or culture.

Unless otherwise stated, all activities will take place next to the Primary Snack Bar during the lunch period.

Week of Sept 30^th – Oct 4^th

Italy Oct 2^nd Come visit the Italy Spotlight stand and take home your own decorated pizza.

UK Oct 3^rd Take home a picture in a London/UK themed photo booth at the UK Spotlight stand.

Malaysia Oct 3^rd Make traditional desserts and a bookmark to take home.

USA Oct 4^th Join Team USA on the basketball courts to practice shooting skills/learn fun facts about the US.

Week of Oct 7^th – Oct 11^th

China Oct 8^th Learn about ‘Kindness, Luck and Fun’ by making fan shape bookmarks, good luck knot charms and by playing a Chinese shuttle kicking game.

Singapore Oct 8^th Come play Singaporean traditional games Kuti Kuti, Fives Stones and Capteh.

Make a pop-up of the Singapore skyline at the Singapore Spotlight stand.

Argentina Oct 9^th Learn about Argentina’s national symbols, play cultural games and paint.

Thailand Oct 9^th Take part in a Thai traditional toy festival at the Thai Spotlight stand.

Taiwan Oct 10^th Try some Chinese Calligraphy Writing and learn about Taiwanese geography whilst throwing

bean sacks and play a matching game to find out facts about Taiwan.

Mongolia Oct 11^th Come to the Mongolia Spotlight stand to learn more about their country and culture.

South Africa Oct 11^th Learn about South African culture and traditions at the South Africa Spotlight stand today.

Week of Oct 14^th – Oct 18^th

Germany Oct 15^th Celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall at the Germany Spotlight stand.

India Oct 15^th Visit the India Spotlight stand to make your own diya, an oil lamp, made of clay, used across India to mark festivals, religious rituals and special occasions. The light of the diya symbolizes knowledge, goodness and purity in Indian culture.
