Global Citizenship
Secret Santa … with a “twist”!
Every year we encourage Year 2 children to think about how to help others who may not otherwise receive special gifts during our holiday period. This year, we are asking each family to help us by providing a gift for a child currently living at Children of the Forest in Sangkhlaburi. More information about this organisation can be found via the link below:
If you would like to contribute, please provide a shoebox with the gifts listed below inside:
Each gift box should include:
- face cloth
- small towel
- bar of soap
- toothbrush and toothpaste
- small pack of pencils
- small pack of colouring pencils
- eraser, sharpener, small notebook
- small pack of sweets.
Please wrap the boxes and put your child’s name and class on the front.
In the interest of fairness we will provide every child with the SAME package of gifts. Please do not include any extra gifts in the box.
We have found that our Y2 students learn most from this experience if they can also be involved in helping to choose the items. All these items can be purchased in Big C for approximately 350 Baht. Please send your contribution into school by Friday 4th December.
If you do have any questions, please contact Miss Jo (jomt@patana.ac.th).
Thank you in advance for bringing a big smile to the face of a child!
Many thanks,
The Year 2 Team
Musician of the Month
This month we are celebrating the music of Phum Viphurit, a singer/songwriter from Thailand. This month’s musician may be especially exciting because Phum is visiting Patana later this month to talk to Y6 about song writing and being a musician!
Phum Viphurit is a 25 year old singer/song-writer based in Bangkok, Thailand. Raised in New Zealand since the age of 9, his love for laid-back music began there and continued into his adulthood as he began writing and releasing music with Rats Records, an independent label based in Bangkok in 2014.
His musical style can be described as a mixture of cultures and colours, portrayed in a mellow, up-beat yet intimate combination. His first LP, Manchild (2017) included the sleeper hit, 'Long Gone' which would launch the beginning of his international career. This was followed by the EP, Bangkok Balter Club (2019) which included Hello, Anxiety and the lead single, Lover Boy, a track that has since gained over 100 million streams on Spotify and Youtube combined.
Touring both in 2018 & 2019, Phum and his travelling bandmates have toured Asia, North America and Europe, playing live houses and halls to festivals such as Summer Sonic (Japan), Tropicália (USA), Westward Music Festival (Canada), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Off Festival (Poland) and many more.
Enjoy!

PTG Reps
If you would like to get in touch with the PTG, we have a Primary representative and a Year 2 representative. Their contact details are as follows:

School shoes
As part of their Patana school uniform, our students wear plain black shoes with no coloured trim.
If your child is still coming to school in coloured trainers or shoes, please purchase plain black school shoes over the half term break.
Shoes should support healthy foot growth.
All shoes require at least a strap to keep the shoe firmly in place. No ballet pumps.
Children can wear lace-ups if they can tie up their laces independently.
Plain black school shoes can be sourced in many shops and department stores.
If your child has to wear other shoes for a specific reason, please let us know.
These photographs are all examples of suitable plain black shoes.
