Well-Being

ECAs

Please note, that due to our Residential Visits (lots of staff away), there will be no ECAs for the next two weeks. A letter has been sent home with more details. Please help your child to understand that their ECAs will stop for two weeks then start again the second week of Term 2B.

Playground equipment in the morning

Please be aware that the playground equipment is CLOSED before school starts. Please remind anyone who drops your child off, that they should not be accessing the playground equipment prior to school starting. Thank you.

Musician of the Month

Our Musician of the Month for February is Yo-Yo Ma. An incredible cellist, Yo-Yo’s parents are from China and he has lived in the US for most of his life.

Yo-Yo is particularly interested in how music and culture can bring the world together. (See this article in Time magazine). He has participated in a number of projects aimed at highlighting how culture and music forge connections between people, for example The Bach Project (36 CONCERTS. 36 DAYS OF ACTION. 6 CONTINENTS.1 EXPERIMENT: HOW CULTURE CONNECTS US), Pop-up Performances for Essential Workers, Committee of 100 and numerous online and in-person educational appearances (including Sesame Street!).

Although Yo-Yo is classically trained, you can see him making music with a wide range of musicians and styles, most recently in an American Bluegrass group.

Feel free to use our special Youtube playlist or to find your own music. Happy listening!

PE

Please see the new PE topics for the term ahead below. The children will not need any different equipment.

Parent Workshops Postponed!

All parent workshops are postponed for Term 2 and will be rescheduled for the next academic year as gatherings at conferences, seminars and presentations are currently limited to 100 people.

Global Citizenship

Recycling - We need your junk!

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure… so please save us your trash! Next term, we will need lots of junk to make and create with, so please keep all your clean junk over the holidays and send it in to school.

Thanks for your help!

PTG Reps

If you would like to get in touch with the PTG, we have a Primary representative and a Year 2 representative. Their contact details are as follows:

School shoes

As part of their Patana school uniform, our students wear plain black shoes with no coloured trim.

If your child is still coming to school in coloured trainers or shoes, please purchase plain black school shoes over the half term break.

Shoes should support healthy foot growth.

All shoes require at least a strap to keep the shoe firmly in place. No ballet pumps.

Children can wear lace-ups if they can tie up their laces independently.

Plain black school shoes can be sourced in many shops and department stores.

If your child has to wear other shoes for a specific reason, please let us know.

These photographs are all examples of suitable plain black shoes.
