Well-Being

Please ask us about our daily mindfulness sessions!

A few reminders

  • Please ensure your child has a spare mask in their bags just in case theirs breaks or gets lost.
  • Hats - your child needs a hat to access all the play areas and for PE lessons.
  • Water bottles
  • Naming property - Please put your child's name and class code on all their uniform, shoes, hats and water bottles to ensure a safe return if they get left behind!

Optional afternoon snack before the bus

As students currently cannot eat on the bus, you are welcome to send in a snack that they can eat in class in the afternoon before they get on the bus. We will provide a window of time each day where they can eat this snack before their bus journey. Please remember that we are a nut free school and remind your child that they cannot share their snack with anyone.

Learning

The Outdoor Classroom

This week, Year 2 will be visiting the outdoor classroom as part of their Science learning about habitats. Please make sure that you child has their PE kit with them, as well as comfy shoes, a hat, mosquito repellent and sun cream. Your class teacher will be in contact regarding which day your child's class will visit.

Junk modelling

Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot accept and recycling from home for junk modelling. Thanks very much to those who have tried to send things in.

The Term One Curriculum

Next week we will begin learning about different habitats through our story 'The Snail and The Whale' by Julia Donaldson. This topic will develop through the term as we explore Geographical, Creative, Mathematical and Literacy skills.

ORT Home reading books - a reminder

The children will be changing their reading books every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure they return their books once they have read them. If you are unsure of your child's library day, then please contact your child's class teacher.

Global Citizenship

Musician of the Month!

Every month Primary Music features a Musician of the Month during lessons. We include a diverse range of performers, arrangers and composers.

This month we are celebrating the music of Celia Cruz.

Celia was born in Cuba in 1925 and moved to the US during the Cuban revolution. She became associated with ‘Salsa’ a Cuban dance music that became popular in the 1960s with her rhythmic singing and rich voice.

This week we are featuring Guantanamero - perhaps Cuba’s most famous song: https://youtu.be/W777MIR8-ko
