Dear parents,

Welcome back after the holidays!

We hope you and your families had a wonderful break and are ready for the term ahead. This week, we have welcomed 40 new students to our school and we're excited for them to be a part of our community.

We have many exciting opportunities and challenges ahead of us this half term, including the upcoming Y4-Y6 student residential trips at the end of January. These trips will provide valuable experiences and learning opportunities for our students and we encourage you to discuss the details with your child and support them in preparing for this exciting experience.

As we move forward in this term, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to support you and your children in making this a successful and enjoyable term. We look forward to the many exciting opportunities that this term will bring, and we appreciate your support and cooperation in making this a successful one for all the students in the school!

Learning

Term 2 - Adventures on the High Seas

After the holidays Year 2 will explore a new theme of learning - 'Adventures on the high seas'.

Please visit our curriculum pages to find out more about this exciting learning!

As part of this exciting theme of learning the children will take part in a dress-up day (03/03/23). On this day they should come to school dressed in costumes inspired by pirate stories.  They could be a pirate, a mermaid, treasure, a captain, a parrot, or any other creative idea.

Lunar New Year

On Friday 20th January, the Primary School will be celebrating Lunar New Year. 

Your child is invited to wear traditional clothes if they have them or to join in by wearing yellow/gold and/or red.

General Information

Primary School Photographs

These will begin next week. Your child will have an individual photo taken as well as a class photo. The schedule for the Y2 classes is as follows:

Monday 16th - 2W

Tuesday 17th- 2M and 2A

Wednesday 18th- 2C

Thursday 19th- 2J

Monday 23rd - 2P 

Tuesday 24th - 2F

If your child normally wears their PE kit to school on that day, please make sure that they wear their school uniform and pack their PE kit in their bag. We will provide time for them to change after the photos have been taken. Black school shoes should also be worn.

New Families

Dance Academy 

The Dance Academy presents – Tiger-Cats Challenge and Adjudicated Showcase 2023, the school’s first dance competition-style event! While many of our dancers have already signed up, we are still inviting sign-ups for the solo and duet categories. 

This event will take place on Thursday the 16th of February

If you wish to sign up, please request additional information about competition rules by emailing us at dance@patana.ac.th before starting your preparation.

Dance Extravaganza 2023

The Dance Academy is now inviting sign-ups for their annual Dance Showcase – The Dance Extravaganza 2023. 

The event will be held on Monday, June 12^th in the Rosemund Suetzel theatre. 

Previous dance experience isn’t required, and all primary and secondary students are welcome to join. To sign up, please use the parent gateway and sign up for the Dance extravaganza ECAs.

This year, we will be exploring the concept of ‘Freedom’ through dance, movement, music, and emotional expression.

Birthday celebrations

We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts or cupcakes. Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School.
