Living our school values:

A note from Mrs McCormack (Primary Principal):

Dear parents,

This week, our Key Stage 2 students continue with their residential trips. After a short hiatus, it has been fantastic to get our students out again and there was much excitement as we waved them off on the buses on Monday and Tuesday.

Experiences outside the classroom have a profound impact on students' growth and development, and they can provide opportunities for them to learn new skills, build relationships, and broaden their horizons. It’s been an action-packed week for sure and I suspect there will be lots of tired friends (and teachers) this weekend!

Across the school, it has been notably quiet with so many of our students away on camp. I have especially noticed this in the Primary canteen, where I have lunch daily. I love this part of my routine, as it’s an opportunity for me to informally chat with the children; to gently observe the comings and goings of our lunchtime experience; and enjoy the menu on offer. As a vegetarian, I am particularly pleased when it is vegetable lasagne day!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Learning

Term 2 - Adventures on the High Seas

Please visit our curriculum pages to find out more about this exciting learning!

Minecraft

As part of our learning after the half-term break, our students will be using Minecraft Education to explore Atomic Theory.

All our students have a Minecraft Education username and password. If possible it would be good if the students could begin to explore this at home, so they are more aware of the program and how to use it.

Their usernames and passwords will be shared with the students by their class teachers.

Username: Is their Patana email - dawa34@patana.ac.th

Password: Is their school password they use during ICT sessions

Dress up Day

As part of this exciting theme of learning the children will take part in a dress-up day (03/03/23). On this day they should come to school dressed in costumes inspired by pirate stories.  They could be a pirate, a mermaid, treasure, a captain, a parrot, or any other creative idea.

Well-being

Collecting students at the end of the day

On the very rare occasion that a parent/carer cannot collect their child, a parent may ask another family to take their child with them.

If this request is made, it parents should inform the class teacher in advance. The class teacher will then inform reception who will then be available to help if there is any difficulty in leaving the school gates.

The collecting adult and the child/ren may only leave via Main Reception.

Illness

This week, we have a number of children unwell with fever and vomiting. We will be especially vigilant with hand washing and general hygiene measures in school.

If your child is unwell, please keep them at home and adhere to the following procedures:

Returning to school

Children should only start back at school when they are completely free of symptoms. If a child returns to school still unwell, the parents will be asked to take their child home.

FS children (Nursery/FS1/FS2)

Should be kept at home for at least 48 hours from the last bout of vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Y1 – Y6 children

Should be kept at home for at least 24 hours from the last bout of vomiting and/or diarrhea.

For general information on gastro viruses, kindly refer to the attached Gastro-intestinal guidance or consult with a medical practitioner.
