Global Citizenship
Musician of the month - February
Our Musician of the Month for February is Yo-Yo Ma. An incredible cellist, Yo-Yo’s parents are from China and he has lived in the US for most of his life.
Yo-Yo is particularly interested in how music and culture can bring the world together. (See this article in Time magazine). He has participated in a number of projects aimed at highlighting how culture and music forge connections between people, for example The Bach Project(36 CONCERTS. 36 DAYS OF ACTION. 6 CONTINENTS.1 EXPERIMENT: HOW CULTURE CONNECTS US), Pop-up Performances for Essential Workers, Committee of 100 and numerous online and in-person educational appearances (including Sesame Street!).
Although Yo-Yo is classically trained, you can see him making music with a wide range of musicians and styles, most recently in an American Bluegrass group.
Feel free to use our special Youtube playlist or to find your own music. Happy listening!

- No Nuts!
- Please ensure that any food items sent in do not contain nuts, or any traces of nuts. Please check the ingredients.

- The birthday treats must be individual portions – teachers will not be able to cut pieces of cake to be given out.
Please liaise directly with your child’s class teacher to inform them if you will be bringing in treats for your child’s birthday. Treats can be dropped off before 8:00 and after 2:00.
