Game Design, Hacking and Syntax

Everything is in Google Classroom. Go here.

We are learning to code with blocks (like Scratch) and then we will move on to using special syntax (Language) that lets us code like we did with HTML.

Except, where HTML changed the look and where things appeared on a page, code such as Python and JavaScript lets us create actions and responses like that of computer games.

For example, when you click a button a web page or application that uses code similar to JavaScript and Python.

Below is the introduction to our new game in Tynker. Tynker.com will gently guide you through the game until you can begin to use different types of syntax.

This is what the basic levels look like

Here is an example of the syntax you will be using:

Task 1:

Go to Google Classroom here.

Task 2:

Open your assignment.

Task 3:

Sign in with Google.

Task 4:

Explore the challenges and try to get to the JavaScript and Python levels

Learning Intention

Can I code with purpose?

Can I use Syntax?

Success Criteria

I can work out what I know about coding in the beginning

I can set a coding target for myself

I can collaborate in Google Classroom with my friends to 'debug' my code

I can aim to understand how Syntax works in JavaScript and Python
