2️⃣    Codes for Instructions - Linked here

3️⃣    Cutt.ly - Shortening URLs for instructions

4️⃣   Check for Student Understanding  - Rosenshines Principles

 - Ask students to explain their thinking & adding Keywords to assist them form quality explanations - Rosenshine's Principles

5️⃣    Adding activities to the School Library

Doing this not only helps you next year but also means colleagues can search for, copy and edit these activities for their own students.   Sharing is Caring...

NB - To share to the library your activity must have either a Template or an Example to support the students.

6️⃣  Filing!

Creating Folders to organise student posts.

Using Folders - Seesaw Guidance

Create collections to organise your your units of learning and activities.

How do I use collections?

7️⃣    Verbal feedback  - Asking Questions

- it's often quicker to say it rather than type   Many students (and parents) will choose to listen to verbal feedback and will respond to questions when asked.

  • Clear concise instructions, that begin with an imperative verb (command), followed by a Seesaw icon where available.

(NB - does require a quiet house) - Thanks to Di Jones

+ Verbal Instructions

Recording instruction onto the activity card and slide can really help students and parents understand the task.

- Thanks to Mark Stride

8️⃣    Progress Tab - Seesaw Guidance video here

We have school-wide Skills for core subjects and the wider curriculum.

The progress display shows status and skills reports, while the colour indicates how many stars have been assigned (Em, Dev, Pro, Exc) to the most recent mastery rating for that student tagged with that Skill.  On the right side, you can filter by a category, subject, student, or Skill.

For instructions on skills, click here!

Please note: families and students will NOT see Skills view or be able to tell which Skills their children have been tagged in. You can, of course, choose to share that information with families during parent-teacher conferences if that would be helpful in sparking meaningful conversation!

9️⃣    Adding emojis -  Windows + . (period) to open your emoji keyboard

These can be used as prompts for younger readers or just to add a little energy into your instructions.

1️⃣0️⃣   Class Announcement

- Thanks to Karen F for this idea

Guidance here - You can use this feature to send messages to all the students in your class.  Good Morning messages, Happy Birthday messages, or new updates to do with your subject etc.

1️⃣1️⃣ Speeding up workflow with Clipboard History - Commenting and feedback

Students often make similar mistakes and so require similar feedback.    On your own device - use "Windows + v " to scroll through everything in your clipboard.   Copy new comments to add them to your clipboard as you work through student submissions.

Activate in Clipboard Settings

These comments could be shared with TAs and teams to create banks to support common feedback.

Share a document with your team with quality feedback comments - Ex, Pr, Dev, Em, then personalise them for each student/piece of learning.

1️⃣2️⃣  Speeding up workflow - Windows Dictate - to write sentences for you

To start dictating, select a text field and press the Windows logo key + H to open the dictation toolbar. Then say whatever’s on your mind. To stop dictating at any time while you're dictating, say “Stop dictation.”

All the above in Video format
