Primary EAL Example  - Get a copy

Recording verbal instructions both on the Activity card and in the student template as well really helps support students to focus on the task and be successful because they know exactly what to do.

Clear concise instructions that begin with an imperative verb (write, read, click, ...) and are followed by a Seesaw icon where available, really aide clarity.

Year 2 Maths example - Get a Copy here

I’ve picked this one as it was an interactive task so children could complete their learning on here without the need for print outs. They could annotate by recording their voice, drawing or using the text feature on Seesaw. I think parents appreciated this task as well because they did not have to stress about printing anything or having resources ready beforehand.  Different levels of challenge were in the task as well, so children could work at their own level.   This made it easier for teachers because we could clearly see what they had done and assess understanding, rather than trying to squint at a photo taken with a shaky hand.

Primary Music - Learning about Pitch - Get a Copy here

Video format meant that sing/copy was possible and demonstration of actions, display of lyrics is all easy and visible.

Having the instructions in a voice message at the beginning is useful.   The link to the virtual xylophone was immediate and easy to find and follow.

Having video as a possible response format is brilliant and has really made a difference to our Y1-2 lessons especially! We can see what the children are actually doing and give them feedback.  Some children like to leave voice messages and staff leaving voice feedback for children has also worked well.

Primary Technology -  Yr4 CAD - Learning Reflection -  Get a Copy

Using Seesaw as a reflective tool allows us to get some valuable insights into the students real understanding of a topic, their ability to explain new skills and to use the key vocabulary of the sessions.   We are finding these Activities are useful both in the middle and end of a unit of learning so we can offer support and concept corrections as required.

Year 3 - Reading with Expression - Get a Copy Here

Reading challenges where students focus on expression, delivery and fluency.   Great tool for keeping a record of your student's reading ability.

Year 3 - Multiplication - Get a Copy Here

Direct links to online resources and activities in the instructions help students get learning straight away.   This one uses a QR code and links to send students straight to the online maths resources.

Primary Thai - Comprehension - Get a copy here

It works well for children to share different learning; reading the poem, ask and answer questions and talking about new vocabulary.  However, it could be better if we read and recorded the reading to attach with it, so the children can listen to the poem too.

Primary Thai - New Vocab and sentences - Get a copy here

Learning new vocabulary with an instructional video and then some practice exercises in Seesaw.   A complete lesson in 5 slides, video intro, introducing new vocabulary, comprehension checks where the students had to select the correct images to match the text.  It worked well because students were able to listen, repeat, check their understanding and then record their own sentences when ready.  All in the Seesaw slides.

Year 1 Maths - Repeated addition - Get a copy here

Using the templates attached, the children have the freedom to respond by voice, video or text type. Some children used a combination of responses. Next step for our children would be to record themselves editing the template - this would show them explaining their learning in a little more detail and we as teachers might be able to more accurately assess it (knowing how independent they were in completing it).

Year 4 Science -  Choice for submission - Get a copy

Offering an open canvas for submission meant there was a much richer set of responses which catered for different styles.  Student Agency may be of increasing importance if we are doing CSL for a longer period of time.

Primary PE examples - Open-ended activities

Open-ended tasks with support materials and links to tuition videos.  Excellent fun and beneficial activities with a focus on student agency and well-being.

Here are some excellent examples from the students in response to PE Activities showing their creativity when given a chance to share in their own style.  Thanks, PE Team
