Year 6 Newsletter 2nd May 2025

A Note from the Principal

2 May 2025

A real highlight for the Primary team this week was Thursday’s CPL Day – a dedicated time for our teachers and teaching assistants to come together to reflect, learn and grow. With keynote talks on sustainable product design and the impact of social media, technology updates, time to explore our new report guidance, and a chance to showcase staff professional development, it was a valuable and energising day for all involved.

Looking ahead, we are looking forward to seeing our wonderful Year 6 students take to the stage in their showstopping performance of Aladdin next week. It promises to be a fantastic celebration of their hard work, talent and teamwork.

Wishing you all a relaxing long weekend – we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday.

Well-being

Transition to Secondary

Starting from 12th May, students in Year 6 will start visiting Secondary and experiencing some lessons with specialist teachers.

They will visit art, DT, Science, Drama and Music Departments.

They will also spend some break and lunchtimes in Secondary so they get a feel of what breaktimes are like.

If your family are leaving Patana, your child will still be able to join these sessions as they are a really positive experience. Your child's teacher will support your child with making connections between this experience and what it may feel like in their new school.

Class teachers will be sharing some information with your child about music options, ahead of the visits.

Please take some time to watch the Y6-Y7 music option video below.

For any questions about music in Y7 and beyond, please contact Ms Laura McRitchie (lama@patana.ac.th)

More information can also be found in the handbook linked below:

Sports Festival - 16th May

You are warmly invited to attend the Year 6 Sports Festival on Friday 16th May, taking place in the Sports Hall from 10:05 am to 12:10pm.

This is a non-competitive event where students will participate in a variety of fun and engaging activities, including table tennis, volleyball, dodgeball, and athletic-based challenges such as the Plank Connect 4. The festival is a celebration of the progress students have made in PE this year and provides a wonderful opportunity for them to share their learning and achievements with you.

All Year 6 classes will be mixed into three groups. Prior to the event, your child will be informed of their starting activity so that you can easily locate them. To ensure the event runs smoothly and safely, we kindly ask that spectators remain in the viewing gallery or around the outer perimeter of each activity.

Students should come to school in their PE kit and will remain in it for the day to simplify logistics around changing facilities for the whole year group.

We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating the students' efforts together. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the PE Department at jaju@patana.ac.th.

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show.
