Note from the Principal

A note from
the Principal
Dear Parents,
It’s been a wet week here at Patana! Finally, we have seen the arrival of the
annual rains and on Thursday lunchtime, we got to witness a magnificent
downpour from our open plan canteen. Of course, this rain has led to some
congestion on the roads and do plan extra time to your travels.
Our students have also enjoyed being ‘wet and wild’ during our end of year swim
galas. Well done to the students and thank you to the PE team for making this a
special event.
In the Patana News today, do look out for an article on Madagascar the Musical
and I will also be sharing a letter with the staff leavers today.
Wishing you a
wonderful weekend ahead.
Sarah McCormack

PSHE
Next week in PSHE we will continue to learn about puberty. The boys will learn about girls and the girls will learn about boys. There will be a male and female teacher in each group for these lessons.
Please see slides below for what the children will learn about in class:
Puberty - girls learn about boys
Puberty - boys learn about girls
Information shared with girls about sanitary products below:
Period knickers (Panties) and swimwear
Great news for girls - there is a growing range of period pants and swimwear available in Thailand now. This means girls can confidently swim during their period without worrying about having to use tampons or cups.
If families are visiting Australasia; USA or Northern Europe in the 'summer' break these are easily available online.
Learning
Home Languages Secondary
We're excited to inform you about the upcoming placement assessments for our Secondary Home Language Programme, scheduled during MFL lessons on Friday, May 24th. These assessments are designed to gauge the language proficiency of Y6 students who have chosen a Home Language as an option for Year 7, as well as those who may qualify for the programme, to ensure we cater for our students home language needs.
It's important to note that these assessments are not something your children need to prepare for. They serve solely to determine their current language level, and they are not graded as pass/fail. Additionally, participation in the programme is entirely voluntary; students who demonstrate a suitable level of language proficiency will not be obliged to join.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we strive to provide enriching language opportunities for our students.
Any questions, please contact Ms Diaz Lopez, Curriculum Leader, Home Languages (vidi@patana.ac.th) or Ms Corenq, Head of Secondary World Languages (ceco@patana.ac.th)

Events around the world
You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.
