Well-being

Final Week of Term - In-School Residential Week

Next week is an ‘In-School Residential Week’. We are very excited about all the fun and collaborative activities we have planned seeing as we are unable to go away on Residential. Raft building, jungle-themed art, pond dipping, and a talent show are to name but a few! There will be lots of pictures at the end of next week on Class Blogs, so please do take a look.

Some key points for next week:

  • Patana PE kit may be worn every day instead of school uniform (optional).
  • Please ensure children come to school in a hat, wearing sun cream, and with a water bottle and spare masks.
  • Swimming kit will be needed on the following days. Please come to school wearing your swimsuit under your uniform/PE kit:
    • Thursday: 5G, 5A, 5M and 5K
    • Friday: 5E, 5D, 5B and 5W (5E and 5B can choose to bring their swimming kit in a bag as they have PE first lesson)

Any students who are accessing CSL will be using the In-School Residential Blog. These activities are available for when live calls are not possible due to the practical nature of the week. Class teachers will share this blog individually with any online learners, and arrange timings of live calls with individual students.

ATK testing

Remember to submit your child's ATK testing before 5pm on Sunday so that your child can join the learning straight away.

Learning

Home Learning and Class Blogs - there is no home learning over the holidays

Here is the link to the Year 5 blogs.

Please encourage your child to complete their home learning. Each week, Mathletics tasks are set. These consolidate the week's learning. There is also a Literacy of Connected Learning task based on the learning.

This is posted on your child's class blog.

This week, there is a writing opportunity. There are three choices all linked to endangered animals. We will select some pieces to be published in our weekly Patana magazine.

Music in the Primary School - online workshop

Our Music specialists will be offering an excellent Parent Workshop on Tuesday March 15th “Music in the Primary School…Opportunities for Your Child’.

It will be run online by Ms Lisa, Mr Charlie and Ms Rachel.

Readers'Cup - Which book is your child reading now?

PE - Interclass Teeball - 14th March Class Colours

  • WHITE - 5G
  • BLACK - 5W
  • GREY - 5K
  • YELLOW - 5B
  • GREEN - 5M

Global Citizenship

We had a successful Waste Less Week

Speak to your child about this, and encourage them to continue with this at home.

Events In The World

If you would like your child to be aware of world news and events but find it too overwhelming, have a look at Newsround for a more age-appropriate version of current events.

You can also access First News and The Week along with a wide selection of other magazines in our Primary Library. Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class.
