Congratulations to Ethan (5A) and Momo (5W) for being global citizens! During the holidays they were 'active volunteers' by collecting plastic from the beach in order to care for the local environment and the coral reefs.

"Although the beach was quite clean, there was still several plastics in the sand. Firstly, plastic could tear the skin of corals; it could damage them. In addition, plastic could block the sunlight from getting to the corals. Therefore, plastic could create low-oxygen conditions. Furthermore, plastic also contains pathogens (a virus or bacterium, which could cause diseases) — that can wound corals, triggering infection. In conclusion, plastic could KILL coral reefs..."
