A note from the Principal

A note from the Principal
A very warm welcome back to the new term and a new academic year! It has been
such a pleasure to reconnect with our students and families this past week, and
we are excited about the fantastic year ahead.
This year, we are placing even greater emphasis on our
guiding statements to foster positive learning behaviours and attitudes centred
around the principles of SAFE – CURIOUS – KIND. We introduced this
concept in our first Parent Partnership workshop on Tuesday (video and slides
available on Firefly) and we will be learning more as we go!
Looking forward to seeing you at our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions next week and
to a wonderful year together.

Well Being
Positive Behaviours – Positive Attitudes
On Tuesday 27th August, we were pleased to welcome many parents to the first Parent Partnership Workshop of this academic year, and to share our new Positive Behaviours – Positive Attitudes poster.
Our students may be familiar with our whole school values of Well-Being, Learning and Global Citizenship. This poster makes these three strands more accessible and age appropriate.
We also introduced the
matrix of positive behaviours and attitudes, organised under the
three strands of Safe, Curious and Kind. Clearly shared expectations help us to
promote and model the behaviours that we want our students to absorb as they
progress through school. Please join with us in sharing and modelling these
positive behaviours and attitudes.

As Year 4 PE lessons are before break time, the children should come to school in their PE kits (or swimming kits underneath their PE kits). They will need to change into their uniforms at the end of the PE lesson.
PE KIT:
Swimming lessons require black or Patana swim kit, swim hat, goggles and towel. Long sleeved rash vest / suit optional.
Handling: Normal PE kit, hat and water bottle.
Remember that students are expected to wear a different pair of shoes for school and for PE lessons.

Tennis
Dear Parents
This coming Saturday we have the opening ceremony of the new tennis centre. Following on from this we will have an open morning for the Patana community.
We will have activities set up with tennis coaches on court ranging from a ball
machine exercise to a fast serve game plus mini tennis set up.
All are welcome and hope to see some of you of then.

Birthdays
Parents should not bring in class gifts, balloons, bubbles, whistles, games, drinks etc. Your child's class teacher will politely ask you to take these home with you. We enjoy celebrating birthdays by sharing a birthday treat such as donuts or cakes.
We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus.
Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings. If you bring these in, unfortunately, we will have to send them home.
- Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
- Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
- Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
- Parents can join in the celebrations.
The following Year 4 children will be celebrating their birthdays this week:
- Leila
- Casper
- Issy
- Eva
- Liam
- Tada
We wish you a very happy birthday!
