A Note from the Principal

22 November 2024

What a fantastic week it has been with our Year 4 to Year 6 residentials. These trips are always such a special part of our school calendar, and I am continually amazed by the sense of community they foster. From the meticulous planning by our staff to the teamwork, resilience, and joy displayed by our students, these experiences truly create lasting memories.

A huge thank you to everyone involved—staff, students, and parents alike—for the care, effort, and trust that make these residentials so meaningful. The laughter, learning, and shared moments will undoubtedly stay with our students for years to come.

Look forward to seeing you at the Ploenchit Fair on Saturday!

Well Being

Charity Christmas shoe box gifts

Thank you to the ten children who bought in gifts this week. The Christmas tree is up and there is plenty more room for other boxes! We would appreciate it if students could bring in shoeboxes by Monday. As always, thank you for supporting our charities.

Cough and sneezes

If your child has any symptoms of a cold or flu, please keep them at home so that they can recover quickly and so that it does not spread to other students.

This includes coughs, sneezes, runny nose, temperature or a sore throat. If unsure, you can visit the school nurse.

Thank you for your support.

Residential information

You can find all information regarding the residential in our residential blog.

You have also received a letter from the Primary Office giving information about departure and arrival back at school.

Learning

Lifesaving Lesson for Year 4 Students during non-residential week

During the upcoming residential weeks, whilst in school our Year 4 students will participate in a lifesaving lesson instead of their regular swimming lesson. This special session is designed to teach essential water safety skills in a fun, hands-on way, providing students with an introduction to lifesaving techniques.

For this lesson, students should bring lightweight, long-sleeve pyjamas to wear in the water, as this clothing helps simulate real-life rescue scenarios. Additionally, they will need a bag to store their wet clothes after the session.

Please see the schedule below for your child’s designated lifesaving lesson. For further questions, feel free to contact Jayne Jauncey, Head of Primary PE, at jaju@patana.ac.th.

Class blogs

Each week, we publish class blogs. The purpose of these is to give you an insight into your child's learning and what is happening in Year 4. Please visit the class blog and discuss your child's learning with them.

Learning In Year 4

For more information about the Learning in Year 4, please visit our Year 4 Curriculum Page.

PE

Children should come to school in their PE kits on the days that they have PE lessons.

When your child has swimming lessons, they should come to school with the swim kit on and their uniform on - NOT their PE kit.

All students are expected to get changed into their school uniform after a PE lesson.

PE KIT:

Swimming lessons require black or Patana swim kit, swim hat, goggles and towel. Long sleeved rash vest / suit optional.

Athletics Normal PE kit, hat and water bottle.

Remember that students are expected to wear a different pair of shoes for school and for PE lessons.

As a reminder, if your child is unable to participate in a swimming lesson due to illness or other reasons, please contact the PE teacher directly, rather than the class teacher or Year Group Leaders.

General information

Birthdays

Parents should not bring in class gifts, balloons, bubbles, whistles, games, drinks etc. Your child's class teacher will politely ask you to take these home with you. We enjoy celebrating birthdays by sharing a birthday treat such as donuts or cakes.

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus.

Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings. If you bring these in, unfortunately, we will have to send them home

Birthday Treats

  • Children may bring in a special treat to share with the class.
  • Please contact the class teacher to arrange a suitable time. In Year 4, you can do this on Monday or Wednesday as we have Spelling lessons on other days.
  • Brownies, cupcakes, small donuts, and cake slices are easier for your child to give out.
  • We do not give out drinks (e.g., bubble tea, sodas)
  • Please reduce plastic packaging.
  • We do not allow party bags or other gifts to be given out at school, either for birthdays, or other celebrations.

The following Year 4 children have celebrated their birthdays this week:

We wish you a very happy birthday!
