Year 4 Newsletter 03.05.24

We are motivated and engaged

A note from the Principal

Dear Parents,

This week, it struck me how our school embodies flexibility, a commitment to learning, and a dedication to excellence. This was particularly clear during our whole-school Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) day. We actively participated in sessions led by three external speakers—Angela Brown, Tom Sherrington, and Gemma Cracker—and reflected on our individual professional growth journeys.

This adaptability was also evident during our Sports Days. Although initially planned for outdoor activities, the heat prompted us to reconsider. As a result, we revamped the format and activities, ensuring an enjoyable, safe and much cooler experience for all participants.

Well done Patana! Sarah McCormack

RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) presentations for Primary Parents

Our RSE lessons will continue next week (week beginning 06/05/24) with the physical and biological changes lesson.

This lesson will be taught in single biological sex groups, with the children learning about the changes they will experience according to their biological sex.

Answering questions about sex and gender

Although sex and gender does not form a major part of our Primary RSE curriculum, students may have questions.

Our view is that genuine questions deserve a response - but the response may need thinking through first.

If a student asks a question in school, we may provide a brief response depending on age and context - or we may suggest that the question is better answered at home.

Definitions of sex and gender can be confusing, so you may find these agreed definitions and responses helpful.
