A note from Mrs McCormack (Primary Principal):

Dear Parents,

This week, we commenced the first of our student assemblies hosted by the Primary Leadership Team. These assemblies occur, roughly, every two weeks and parents are always warmly welcome (do check ISAMS for the schedule).

I was lucky enough to host the Year 3 and 4 assembly on Wednesday and the focus was on our values of kindness, compassion, and respect. We used our Learning Habitats video to further think about the ways in which school is like a rockpool and how using kind words and actions helps us to live in harmony.

A big well done to all the students starting their ECAs this week and exploring their potential in so many different ways!

Junk Modelling Resources

We are currently looking for recycling to add to our Junk modeling boxes as part of our Play-based learning. If you have clean recycling we would love to take it off your hands. Please send it in with the children to pass on to the teachers.

Home language books and recomendations

As part of our reading corners, we have developed a home language book box.

If you have any recommendations of books we could include please email Ms Sofie. sode@patana.ac.th

Alternatively, if you have home language books that are no longer used we would love to accept donations of these to build and develop our home language libraries.

General Information

Healthy Snacks

As ECAs have now started your children may become hungry after a long day at school before they begin their ECA program.

Students are allowed to bring a snack on ECA days.

Please ensure this snack is healthy for example: A piece of fruit, a sandwich, or other dry snack.  Also please ensure it is NUT FREE.

Influenza Prevention

We currently have a few cases of Influenza in Primary. Influenza is much more serious than a cold and can result in serious complications such as pneumonia.

When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if your child has another chronic condition such as asthma.

Even very fit and healthy children can easily catch the flu.

Clusters of children from the same class or friendship group may quickly display similar symptoms.

The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

The virus can survive on hands and on objects that have been in contact with an infected person’s mouth or nose. Please make sure that everyone in your family washes and dries their hands regularly and thoroughly. These preventative measures will help to stop infection from spreading within your family.

If your child is coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with others.

Colds and influenza are most contagious during the first 48 hours.

A child who has a fever should remain at home until they are “fever-free” for a minimum of 24 hours.

Children who have been infected with Influenza should be kept at home until completely recovered.

Once the main symptoms have gone, children may still need several days until they return to full strength. Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer contagious.

If Influenza is confirmed, please scan and send the medical certificate to your child’s class teacher and Cc Nurse Joe (Kiera) kiau@patana.ac.th.

Birthday celebrations

The following students are/were celebrating this week...

Arjan (2B)
Savannah (2B)
Vani (2F)

We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts, or cupcakes.

Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School and also check with the class teacher for any other dietary requirements of the class.
