A note from Mrs McCormack (Primary Principal):

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe it is the 1st of December today! Term 1 has galloped by at an amazing speed and I am still not used to warm winter months! Needless to say, as the holidays soon approach we are all excited for the festival celebrations ahead.

On Tuesday this week, we hosted our 2nd parent workshop on assessment and reporting. Much of the session was dedicated to looking at our new ways of reporting attainment and progress and the new report template. Our teachers are busy writing reports at the moment and these will be shared with you in the last week of term.

Have a lovely weekend and don’t forget next Tuesday is a public holiday!

Educational Visit to Rama 9 Park

It is now one week until our Y2 trip to Rama 9 Park on Friday 8th December, and the children are getting very excited! On the day, please apply sun-cream before school and if your child has extra sensitivity to the sun, please place some extra sun-cream in their bag for them to apply if required.

For the trip, children must bring:

1. A small backpack (no wheels) or a drawstring bag e.g., Patana swimming bag

2. Water bottle

3. Hat

We will enjoy our usual morning snack at the park and be back at school in time for a normal lunch in the canteen.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Every year at this time, Year 2 parents and children put together a Christmas Shoebox containing a selection of small gifts for the children at our charity, Children of the Forest. I am pleased to say that we will be putting shoeboxes together again this Christmas.

Children of the Forest is a registered charity close to the Thai-Myanmar border, that supports stateless and homeless children with education and healthcare. Your kindness and support throughout the year make a big difference to the life chances of these children. The shoeboxes also bring great joy to those who would not normally receive a gift for Christmas.

I am hoping that you would be kind enough to put together a shoebox, with the following contents.

The charity has requested the following:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Soap and shampoo
  • Face cloth
  • Coloured pencils or crayons
  • Colouring book(s) or sketch book(s)
  • Candy packets or sweets
  • Small snack (eg. small pack of crisps or similar – no chocolate and no nuts)
  • Small packet of biscuits
  • Small toy suitable for either a boy or girl.

Please ensure all items are new and clean.

Please wrap the box but do not seal it – the children will make a card to go inside.

Please involve your child and ask them to help you select the gifts.

Please send your shoebox to school by Friday 8th December.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity at this time of year.

Gift Giving

Giving gifts to friends and family is a lovely thing.

However, we do not expect or encourage gifts from a family to the whole class.

Please do not bring in gifts, sweets, candy canes or toys for the class. Edible gifts can cause problems for some families, and we do not allow sweets/candy in school.

Many of our students give gifts to families and children in need through our year group charities, and this we completely support.

Birthday celebrations

The following students are/were celebrating this week...

Iris (2C)
Lingman [Kaycee] (2K)

We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts, or cupcakes.

Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School and also check with the class teacher for any other dietary requirements of the class.
