Connected Learning in 1M

This week we have started our first Connected Learning sessions with 1B and using the whole Learning Environment available to us. Connected Learning allows the children some choice in their activities, with the understanding that some tasks have to be completed during the week. For instance, today we introduced the two main activities (writing about themselves and painting a portrait of themselves using the correct proportions) in the morning and then started to ask the children which activity they would like to start with. For most children, this gives them the feeling that they are in charge of their own learning, even though the adults keep detailed records of the activities they have undertaken and their achievement in line with set criteria. So, if you look closely at the photos, you will see the children engaged in a range of activities today, which will change over the next few days.
