Celebrations, celebrations!

Today we started our new learning theme – “Let’s celebrate!” During this theme, we will be inquiring about a variety of celebrations around the world, starting with celebrations the children are aware of and then choosing some they are less aware of to find out ( and present) about. Throughout, we will refer to these five key questions:

1. Why does my family celebrate special occasions?

2. What special occasions do we know about? (e.g. Birthdays, Tiger Day, Loy Krathong, International Day, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Easter)

3. How do we celebrate these special occasions? (e.g. dancing/food/people together/ gifts/ music/ fireworks/ presents/ dress)

4. How can we find out about other celebrations? (e.g. non-fiction books/pictures/video clips/experts/other people)

5. How is my family’s celebration of events different to other peoples'?

Today all the teachers dressed up in different costumes to show a variety of celebrations, from the first day of school, Halloween, Christmas, Diwali and even a wedding!

If you can, talk to your child about a celebration that they have joined in with recently and post their responses on the Blog.
