1L have published a book

Over the past four weeks we have been researching and recording information for our class book all about wild animals. Miss Sal has helped us to find some interesting facts out about our chosen animal and as a class we have put together a glossary and contents page for our book. Miss Sal had our book 'published' and we now have two copies in class for everyone to enjoy. On Wednesday we enjoyed a surprise book party to celebrate the publishing of our amazing Wild animal book. We really enjoyed all the chocolate cake, fruit and sandwiches washed down with some fine orange squash. We all enjoy visiting the library  each week and have been excitedly awaiting the launch of our new book. Thank you to Miss Sal and the library team for the wonderful  book and party!

Circus, Circus!

1L are having a lot of fun with our learning theme Circus Circus. We have made our very own miniature Circus complete with clowns, jugglers, seals, a human cannon ball, elephants, tigers, lions a strong man and a tightrope walker. The circus is so colourful and the children have been adding more detail to it at every spare opportunity they get.

We have also tried to imagine what character we would like to be in a Circus.the children have come up with some very original pictures using a photo of their face and have then drawn their favourite circus character on to it. Have a look at some of the very artistic and creative learning the children have completed this week.

Year 1 Swimming Gala

We had a lot of fun in the pool today taking part in the Year 1 swimming Gala. The children were very keen to join in and along with all of the traditional race strokes we did a noodle relay race, a life jacket relay  and an underwater treasure hunt. 1L has some fantastic swimmers in the class and we enjoyed taking part in al the races. A huge thank you to all the parents who braved the heat to cheer on our super swimmers  in 1L!

Billy Blunder's Circus

Today we started a new learning theme - The Circus is coming to Town. We were very excited as a 'real' circus came to school to preform for us. We saw  performing horses , jugglers, clowns, tight rope walkers, strongmen, lion tamers,  and even a human cannon ball shot from a real cannon. The circus was presided over by the amazing  ringmaster- Billy Blunder. Have a look at the picture and see what a treat we had today enjoying all the wonderful acts at the circus.

Thai Temple Maths fair

This week the children have been playing and then designing their own maths games to play at our Year 1 Thai Temple Fair.

The children were learning about what makes a good game and were challenged as a group to collaboratively design and build their own challenging maths game. We then invited along Year 5 and Year 2 to play our games for a small amount of money. The children enjoyed playing their games and other Year 1 games. We had a large turn out of  older students and parents and the primary hall was buzzing with lots interest in the maths games.
