Classlist FAQ

Getting Started

1. What is Classlist?

Classlist is a secure parent community app that gives parents one place to connect with their class and Year group, receive PTG information, and communicate more easily with one another.

2. Why is Bangkok Patana School moving to Classlist?

We want to provide a consistent, inclusive and reliable way for all parents to access information and connect with one another. It is easier to manage, reduces reliance on multiple unofficial groups, and better supports privacy and data protection expectations.

3. Is this a school-run app?

No, Classlist is administered and run by the PTG. The School provides technical and financial support only.

Registration

4. How do I join Classlist?

Download the Classlist app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, then sign up using the email address the school already holds for you. Only current parents can sign up with a Bangkok Patana School account. You may also receive an email invitation from Classlist and use this link to join.

5. What if I do not receive an invitation?

If you do not receive an email invitation, first check that you are using the same email address that is registered with the school, then do check your junk/spam folders for an email from Classlist. If you still have a problem, contact the PTG@patana.ac.th for help. Note that invitations will be sent to parents during the week of June 22nd 2026

6. Can both parents join?

Yes. Each parent or guardian can create their own account, as long as their email address is held in the school system. (Support family staff will not have access to Classlist.)

7. What if I use a different email address?

You will need to use the email address the school has on record for you. This helps make sure access is limited to current Bangkok Patana families.

8. Can I join later if I miss the first invitation?

Yes. Parents can still join later, but families are encouraged to be active by August 2026 in order to keep updated.

9. Do I have to join Classlist?

While joining is not mandatory, we strongly encourage all parents to sign up so you don’t miss important updates and opportunities to connect with your child’s class and the wider community. School events will be shared through school channels such as the school website, Patana News and emails when necessary.

Using the App

10. What can I use Classlist for?

Parents can use Classlist for PTG communication, class and year group updates, and general parent-to-parent connection within the school community. You can create your own interest groups, and post updates and photos on these groups.

11. Can I message other parents directly?

Yes, parents can connect through the app, depending on the platform’s available features and their own privacy settings.

12. Will Classlist replace all parent conversations?

No. Parents can still stay in touch privately in whatever way suits them. The change is that PTG and class-level communication will move onto Classlist.

The Transition

13. When will the change happen?

The transition period runs from June 2026 through to 29th August 2026, and existing PTG WhatsApp and LINE groups will be phased out by 31st August 2026.

14. Will existing WhatsApp and LINE groups stay open for a while?

Yes. Existing groups will remain in place during the transition so families have time to move across without losing contact.

15. When do parents need to be active on Classlist?

Families are asked to be active on Classlist starting from the week of 22nd June and by August 2026.

Privacy and PDPA Compliance

16. Why is Classlist better for privacy?

Classlist gives the school community a more structured and school-supported platform for parent communication, reducing the need to share contact details widely across informal groups.

17. Does this support PDPA expectations?

Yes. Moving to one supported platform helps the PTG manage parent communication more carefully and more consistently in line with privacy and data protection expectations.

18. Will my contact details be visible to everyone?

Visibility depends on the platform settings and the choices available to parents inside the app. Families should review their profile and privacy settings when they join.

Need Help?

19. Who should I contact if I need help?

If you have trouble joining or using Classlist, please contact ptg@patana.ac.th.

20. What if I am not confident using apps?

We will keep the instructions simple and support will be available during the transition period to help parents get set up.
