Code of Conduct Chat Groups

All parents agree to adhere to the following Code of Conduct while using chat groups:

Code of Conduct for Parents Using School Chat Groups

These guidelines are intended to ensure that school-related chat groups remain respectful, purposeful and secure for all members.

1. Purpose of the Group

The group is for general communication among parents (e.g. reminders, event coordination).

Official school announcements will be made through the school’s designated channels (eg. Email, school website, etc.).

The group is not a platform for airing grievances or discussing school policies or staff.

2. Respectful Communication

Always be courteous and respectful in your messages.

Avoid negative comments, sarcasm, or criticism of teachers, staff or other parents.

Concerns should be addressed privately with the school, not in the group.

3. Appropriate Use

Do not use the group to promote businesses, sell products, or share commercial content.

Do not use contact details from the group for business or marketing purposes.

Do not share anyone’s contact information without their explicit consent.

4. Privacy and Confidentiality

Do not post photos, videos, or personal information about children or families without permission.

Do not take screenshots of the chat or share its content outside the group.

5. Message Relevance and Timing

Keep messages relevant to the group’s purpose.

Avoid sending messages during unsociable hours (e.g. before 6.30 AM or after 8:00 PM).

Use private messages for one-on-one conversations.

6. Group Administration

Admins may remove messages or members who violate these guidelines.

If you have questions about the rules, please contact the group admin privately.

By engaging in a PTG chat group, all users agree to this Code of Conduct.
