Wake Up Song
Children love making and building dens!
Den building is a brilliantly easy way to have fun and to make children’s learning exciting, while developing many skills across the different areas of learning. It involves lots of physical movement and exercise as children design, build, balance and collect their materials. It promotes gross motor skill development through moving, lifting and carrying materials to make their den. It provides lots of room for trial and error and enables children to develop perseverance and Characteristics of effective learning. Pegs are great for attaching materials together, they also encourage the pinching action between the thumb and finger which will help your child to build strong finger muscles required for mark making.

Early Years Development Matters Indicators:
We would love it if you could work with your child to design and build a den at home. This could be enjoyed inside or outside. Your child might need some help agreeing on a design or constructing their den, or moving materials that may be difficult to lift or place alone. This is a great opportunity for your child to communicate their thoughts and ideas with you.

Using ILD
ILD is the platform Foundation Stage use for sharing learning. Sending pictures and videos here allows teachers to give personalised feedback on children's learning. A gentle reminder that teachers are unable to provide feedback via email or Teams chat. A parent guide of how to use this platform is in the document below.
We would love you to upload an ILD observation of your child learning today.
