The Three Little Pigs:
Early Measuring!
This week we have been building things, tall things and long things. Today we are going to measure our builds or other things around our house. Often when we measure things we use a ruler. But there are other things we can use. Ask your child if they know what they could use to measure?
You could use; a stick from your garden, your hands, some Lego bricks, a chopstick from the kitchen or maybe something else.
Thai Translation:
It would be great if you could encourage your child to do this independently, you could help them the first time and then encourage them to find more things to measure and try to do it by themselves. Often we need to slow down and let our children complete the tasks themselves, however long it takes because that is how they learn.
Thai Translation:
This measuring activity gives your child an opportunity to;
· Compare the size of things and to learn and use the language of size- big, bigger, small, smaller, long, longer, short shorter, tall, taller.
· Notice what is the same and what is different in their environment.
· Practice counting giving one number to each item.
· Perhaps even represent their findings using their fingers or marks on paper.
Thai Translation:
ILD; We would love for you to share examples of your child measuring, counting or using the language of size. Video’s are really good for this, but photos work well too if you can share what your child did independently.

Snack Time
Sharing food such as at snack time or during lunchtime is a great opportunity for your child to talk about their learning.

Using ILD
ILD is the platform Foundation Stage use for sharing learning. Sending pictures and videos here allows teachers to give personalised feedback on children's learning. A gentle reminder that teachers are unable to provide feedback via email or Teams chat. A parent guide of how to use this platform is in the document below.
We would love you to upload an ILD observation of your child learning today.
Have a wonderful day of learning at home today!
