Nursery Continuing Learning Page Monday 21st Apri

Welcome to the Nursery learning page. Don't forget to register each morning on the opening page.

Good Morning!

We love to see what you are learning at home!

Thank you for sharing your special moments at home. Here are some of them...

Can you find pictures of your friends?

These are some ideas for learning at home today. Parents please remember that there is no expectation to complete all of these! Keeping a routine for your child and maintaining contact with school are the most important thing.

Wake Up Song

"Action songs not only develop language as children learn the words but also support the development of your child's gross motor skills such as balance, strength and coordination. "

Top Tip - Expand to full screen on all video links to get the best view!

You can display this page onto your television using 'Screen Mirroring' too to get an even better view!

Today's story time is..

Snack Time

I love how you can make the best of snacktime by enjoying a book together!

Can you help to prepare your snack?

Early Mathematics

Mathematics skills are rooted in the prime areas of physical development and communication and language. In order to be able to count, children must first be able to say number names in sequence. Many of our children can recite numbers in different languages...this is awesome! Some children are able to count accurately with 1:1 correspondence. This means they are able to touch one object, saying each number name in turn. They know to count each object once only and to stop when all the objects have been counted. Lining objects up will help with this.

Can you go on an animal hunt in your house? Look through your toys to see how many animals you have. Count how many teddy bears? How many dinosaurs? How many……? You can decide how you would like to sort them...you might like to sort them by colour, just like the different coloured animals in the story. Or, you might like to sort them according to where they like to live? Some animals need to be in the sea, some animals like to live in the trees and some animals are happy on the ground.

We would love you to upload an ILD observation of your child counting and sorting their toy animals.

What noises do the different animals make?

Can you guess the animal sound?

Sound discrimination is the very early stages of ‘phonics’ development and links to communication and language skills. Phonics is a method of teaching children to read by linking sounds and the symbols that represent them. In nursery, we know that by teaching our children to hear the difference in everyday sounds now, then they will be developing the ability to hear the difference between letter sounds later.

Today’s song time is we have...

Lunchtime!

Look who is enjoying some meal time fun with the Nursery bear!

Did you help with the cooking today?

Song Time

This song not only supports children's awareness of rhyme but also supports language development as children listen and attend to the simple instructions given in the song! This is why songs are so powerful for developing early literacy skills.

Keeping Children Safe Online...

Please support your children's online safety by sharing our continued learning code of conduct here:

Using ILD

ILD is the platform Foundation Stage use for sharing learning. Sending pictures and videos here allows teachers to give personalised feedback on children's learning. A gentle reminder that teachers are unable to provide feedback via email or Teams chat. A parent guide of how to use this platform is in the document below.

We would love you to upload an ILD observation of your child learning today.

Have a wonderful day of learning at home today!
