Friday 20th March

Wake up and shake up with Ms Rachel and Ms Sarah!

Can you find something in your kitchen to ‘play’ along with our song? Can you keep the ‘beat’ with Miss Sarah? This is a great way to develop listening and attention skills.

These are some ideas for learning at home today. Parents please remember that there is no expectation to complete all of these! Keeping a routine for your child and maintaining contact with school are the most important thing. Please feel free to leave a comment by clicking the icon 'Add Comment' at the bottom of the blog to let us know how your child is getting on!

Junk Modelling Challenge!

As well as encouraging recycling, junk modelling offers opportunities for developing children’s fine and gross motor skills. It also involves exercising their imagination, problem-solving, designing, communicating, self-expression, trial and error, sharing, resilience, happiness and building knowledge.

Look around your house for recyclable materials. Can you join them together to make a model of something that moves? You could choose to make a car, a train, a rocket - anything you want!

We have been using the “flange” join at school, but you might want to try some different joining techniques too. These could really up-level your model.

Snack time! We've heard that Harry ate 5 bananas yesterday! I wonder which healthy snack you've got for today?

Phonics time!

FS1 - Silly Soup

Finding words that start with the same sound (alliteration) helps your child to identify and pay close attention to the sounds in words, which is an early reading skill.

Using a big bowl, can you make some Silly Soup? The Silly Soup on today's menu begins with the first sound in your name! Can you find some ingredients in your home that begin with the first sound of your name?

Our bowl of Patana soup has a pink pig, pencil, person and playdough!

FS2 - phonic comic

You can practice the following sounds by reading this comic with your family:

h / b / f / ff / l / ll / ss

Lunch time - make sure that you wash your hands carefully for at least 20 seconds before you sit down to eat!

Making rainbow pasta necklaces!

Threading activities like this can develop a range of skills in children: fine motor, visual perception, hand-eye coordination, concentration, creativity, planning skills, collaboration skills (if working with you), and some maths skills (describing patterns and counting).

Story Time - we hope you enjoyed Ms Robine's and Ms Cora's stories yesterday. I wonder who will be reading to us today?

Due to potential copyright issues, please do not download or share this story - thank you.

Goodbye! See you all tomorrow

  1. Wonderful song from Ms Rachel and Ms Sarah. Me and Harry had so much fun clapping along and then Harry chose kitchen percussion instruments... He told me I could be a quiet instrument with a tea cloth and then a packet of crisps to shake! Thank you so much :)
