We Are Motivated and Engaged

                                                        A note from the principal

This week, we have had a fantastic time exploring numbers! Long-time Patana collaborators Andrew Jeffrey and Liz Gibbs have helped make our Maths Week truly inspiring. Students have enjoyed problem-solving activities, hands-on explorations, timetable competitions, and even a Maths magic show!

We are also delighted to invite you to a Parent Workshop on Tuesday at 8am, where you can learn more about how to support your child's maths development.

Do not forget next week is a short week for us, with school closed on Friday.

World Peace Day

On Wednesday 18th September, we will be celebrating World Peace Day. It will be a non-uniform day and we are encouraging the children to wear BLUE coloured clothes. We will be attending an assembly and taking part in a variety of activities and lessons on World Peace Day. No donations are needed for this event.

Well-being

Playground use before and after school

Students are not permitted to use any of the climbing or play equipment before 7:30 a.m.

There is no staff supervision in any play area after 2:30.

The accompanying adult is therefore responsible for the safe supervision of the child.

We encourage parents and family employees to take children straight home at the end of the school day.

We are a NUT FREE school. When ordering birthday treats, please ensure that there are no nuts or nut products (such as Nutella or peanut butter) used.

  • Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
  • Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
  • Parents can join in the celebrations.

A message from the Library team

Dear parents,

For over 40 years, Bayard and Milan have been committed to providing their young readers with innovative and constructive magazines that cater to all ages and passions.

These magazines offer your children the opportunity to learn to read in both French and English, to read with pleasure, and to explore the world through a range of magazines tailored to their age and interests.

We are pleased to inform you that you have the opportunity to subscribe to Bayard and Milan Jeunesse magazines at the best rates, thanks to your school.

These magazines, delivered monthly to the school, support learning the French language with sections full of curiosity, discovery, knowledge, and humor.

By subscribing, you also support the school, which will receive one free subscription for every 10 subscriptions purchased by parents.

The Rainforest

PE

Students should come to school in their PE kit on PE days. If they have swimming for the first lesson, they can wear their swim kit under their uniform. If they have swimming later in the day, we ask that they DO NOT wear their swim kit to school.

Please ensure that your child brings their uniform with them to get changed into after their PE lessons.

Blogs

Click on the image to visit the Year 5 blogs.

This is where you will find an overview of your child's learning along with their home learning tasks and any important messages from your child's class teacher.

Please check your child's class blog weekly to stay informed about their learning.

Please encourage your child to complete their home learning.

 Events In The World

You can keep up to date with current events around the world by watching Newsround, an age appropriate news show.  Being aware of current events will help your child to make connections with a range of themes when reading in class, and it is an ideal opportunity for you to model discussing your opinions and using experiences to draw connections between events and people.
