Well Being

PSHE

Our focus this half term is...

"We are celebrating people who persevere with a challenge."

Air Quality at Patana

Please use this link for more information : https://www.patana.ac.th/air-quality-on-campus/

Snacks

Sharing of snacks after school - Please can we remind parents that the sharing of snacks is not allowed in the primary school, including after school. This is to ensure all our student's are kept safe, as we have a number of students with potentially critical allergies. Many thanks for your support.

Nut free Primary School - For some children, any exposure to nuts is potentially very dangerous and can be life threatening. We do not allow any nuts to be brought into Primary. This includes snacks on school transport, birthday treats and food items brought in for any other special days. Thank you for your understanding.

Learning

Year 5 Share their Learning

Thank you to all parents who came along to our assembly on Wednesday to support the students. They thoroughly enjoyed sharing their space learning with you.

New Learning Theme

This term our students will explore a new learning theme - 'The Water Crisis'

The Big Idea:

Fresh water is our most precious resource. This theme of learning explores the impact of water and water shortages on people in different cultures and landscapes in the past, present and future.
Key Driving Questions:

How does water impact our own and the lives of others in cultures different to our own?

How does the world recycle its water?

Why is there a water crisis in the world?

To find out more please visit our Firefly curriculum pages

Global Citizenship

Loi Krathong: Monday 11th November 2019

Loi Krathong is a festival for honouring the rivers and waters. A Krathong is floated on the waters with good wishes for the year ahead. The Krathong is made from woven banana leaves and decorated with flowers and incenses.

Thai dress

Students are encouraged to wear traditional Thai clothes to school. Any effort is appreciated. You may find the clothes at the local markets, Bic C or Tesco. Best if you could ask your Thai friends, nannies or drivers to help. Please wash the clothes before wearing them.

The Water Crisis

Next term we will focus on a new theme of learning through which we will support our chosen Charity - 'Water Aid' and with the money we raise we hope to build water wells in Cambodia.

Event 1: Year 5 Bring Buy and Bake Sale - Wednesday 4th of December

Students are encouraged to bring in any old or second hand items to sell at our Bring, Buy and Bake Sale.

Students could bring things like old toys, books and games to sell at the event. All items must be in working order and should be brought to class teachers who will store them in preparation for the event.

Eco Bricks - Plastic Appeal

Our Year 2 buddies are currently looking at the idea of sustainability and are trying to build and create 'Eco Bricks'. We have volunteered to help them as they are trying to develop their outdoor classroom by using the bricks to build planters and shaded spaces.

We need your help! Students are encouraged to bring in their used plastic waste. Please ensure this washed first.

Birthdays

We are a Nut free Primary School!

Happy Birthday this week to...

Edward (5J)
Hiroto (5J)
Tanwaar (5W)
Hailynn (5C)

General Information

Lost Property

Parents and children are encouraged to search lost property before purchasing replacement items.

Please visit https://patana.fireflycloud.asia/community-events/lost-property or scan the code and log in.

School shoes and PE

A polite reminder that school shoes should be worn every day and for PE your child needs a separate pair of trainers. Please see guidance below. Students wear black shoes that support the whole foot and allow them to be active. School shoes require at least a thick strap to keep the shoe firmly in place. Children can wear lace-ups if they can tie up their laces independently.

The Young Americans Workshops

International School Bangkok will be hosting workshops in music, dance and performance to students from 6 to 18 years old. The workshops are offered by the Young Americans on 25 – 26 January 2020. For more detail, please click here.
