Journey 2 - A Developing Industry

Oil very quickly became a very valuable resource. It developed it's name 'Black Gold' because firstly of it's black colour and secondly it's value. The discovery of oil made people rich very quickly.
In the this second period of Oil History we begin to look at how Oil was used and the impact it had.

What happens when oil is refined?

How was oil drilled out of the ground between 1850 and 1920?

What was oil used for during the early 1900's?

Which countries drilled for oil between 1850 and 1920?

How did the creation of cars help the oil industry?

For this task choose one or two of the questions above to focus your research.
